ANNOUNCEMENTS – ALL STUDENTS & STAFF
PRINCIPALS MESSAGE
All students, it is through your hard work that will make Central High School one of the best high schools in the state!
Congratulations to all 1st and 2nd honor students on this high achievement and all the hard work you put into school this year!
All students should continue to work hard to improve on your grades. It is not too late to improve and have the high grades that you expect for the 2nd marking period report cards!
We are now following the new modified block schedule. You can pick up a copy of the schedule in the main office.
All Students must have a photo ID daily for security purposes and your safety. Those students who can not produce one (if asked) will receive detention! If you lost your ID, you need to pay $3 for a new one.
A continuous reminder to all students that if you are “seen” with any hats or electronic devices, you will be asked for them. Also, no card playing in school.
A reminder to all students: If you can not make your scheduled detention day, speak with you house principal for a Thursday or Friday detention.
Any student, unless you are in an after school activity or sport, you are to leave the building at dismissal. The late bus is provided only for detention and those students participating in after-school activities.
Let’s keep our school clean! Please do not walk around with any food or drink. Additionally, some of our neighbors have been complaining about the trash outside of the building. Let’s keep our area and Bridgeport clean…Don’t litter!

STUDENTS AND STAFF
ATTENTION SPORTS FANS! The Boys Basketball Team plays tomorrow, Friday, Dec. 22nd at home against Prince Tech. of Hartford. The Junior Varsity game starts at 4 p.m. and the Varsity game starts at 5:30 p.m. Please note the early start time. Also, don’t forget that over the holiday break, on Wednesday, Dec. 27th, there will be a girls and boys basketball doubleheader! Starting at 1 p.m., you can watch the Girls Junior Varsity Team, 3 p.m. will be the Girls Varsity Team, 5 p.m. will be the Boys Junior Varsity Team and at 7 p.m. will be the Boys Varsity Team. Come watch 4 games of basketball!
Congratulations to Keith Carlos who will be awarded 1st team All-State for football today, and to Hattrey Wilson for breaking the state wrestling pin time by 15 seconds!
Bowling is for varsity members only but anyone can come and watch. See Mr. Katona with any questions.
Get your voucher for “Disney on Ice” at Harbor Yard, January 3rd and January 4th @ 7 p.m. The voucher allows you to purchase up to 6 tickets for only $ 10 a piece. Tickets are otherwise $15, $20 and $25 each. Se Mr. Curtin or Liz in the main office for your voucher.
Mr. Graf and the Athletic Department are looking for a few dedicated students to work the home Basketball games this year. If interested please see Mr. Graf in Room H105.
Students, faculty and parents who are interested in purchasing an add in this years yearbook, can pick up an Ad Brochure in Room E210. Ad space is limited, so place your add early.
The Fashion Club is having a raffle for the BIGGEST FASHION SHOW in high school history! 1st prize is a $50 Westfield Gift Card. 2nd prize is a $25 Westfield Gift Card and 3rd prize is a certificate to order a decorated cake by the lovely Ms. Griffin. The winners will be announced tomorrow, Dec. 22nd. Tickets are on sale now. See any member of the Fashion Club. Any FCCLA Fashion Club member who have not received your raffle tickets, see Ms. Griffin or Ms. Williams in Rooms F201, F203, F205 or F207. Also, dues must be in by tomorrow, Dec. 22nd. The next Fashion Club meeting will be on Monday, Jan. 2nd @ 2:45 p.m. All members must attend.
FCCLA Fashion Club re-cuts will be on Tuesday, Jan 2nd @ 2:35 p.m. in Room F203. Girls must wear a solid color shirt, blue jeans, at least 2 inch heels, no make-up and hair up. Boys must wear a button- up collar shirt, blue jeans and dress shoes (no sneakers).
The main office is collecting for a canned-good food drive for the less fortunate. Please contribute to this worthy cause.
Liz and Therese in the main office would like to send a special thank you to all who gave to “Toys for Tots.” It is all greatly appreciated!
Therese in the main office is collecting hats, gloves, socks, ect. to give to the less fortunate. She will be collecting these items all winter-long.

JUNIORS
· We have a luxury coach bus reserved for the junior ring dance. It will take all juniors to and from the dance. The cost for a seat is $20. If you would like to reserve a seat, please see Ms. McNeill. The deadline to reserve your seat has been extended to Wednesday, Jan. 17th. This will be the absolute last day to reserve. There are only 43 seats left!
· There are limited amount of Junior Ring Dance tickets left. After tomorrow, Dec. 22nd, tickets for the dance are going up from $70 to $80 and assessments are also going to increase from $25 to $30.
SENIORS
· The Fairfield County Chapter Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Scholarship Applications are available from Ms. Carpenter until tomorrow, Dec.22nd. Students must have a 3.0 GPA and a combined SAT score of 1350.
· Senior class dues have gone up to $25 and starting on Jan. 1st they will go up to $30. Any senior that has not paid their dues will not be able to participate in any events.
· Winter Formal tickets are now on sale for $10. The price will go up to $15 starting January 1st. The date for the formal is Friday, January 19th. Please see Liz or Therese in the main office to purchase your tickets.

GUIDANCE
· For all students who took the PSAT’s in October: Today, Dec. 21st, students with a last name that begins with the letters M-Z, can pick up their scores in the auditorium. Students whose last name begins with the letters A-L, should have picked up their scores yesterday.
· Interested students can receive college credit from Housatonic Community College. If you are a junior or senior and have at least a B average, see Mr. Brown for details.
· Seniors looking into scholarships should go to our website at www.bridgeportcentral.org. Click on DEPARTMENTS, then GUIDANCE, then SCOLARSHIP LISTINGS. You can apply online or pick up applications in the Career Center or the Magnet Office. The list will be constantly revised as new scholarships come in, so visit it weekly.
· Seniors may apply for the Broad Prize Scholarship. They must have a 2.75 GPA in their senior year. As well, they must have shown steady, consistent improvement from grades 9 through 12. Please see your counselor for an application. The deadline is January 19, 2007.
· SAT - March 10, 2007: Please register by February 2, 2007.
· ACT - February 10, 2007: Please register by January 5, 2007.

Get your voucher for “Disney on Ice” at Harbor Yard, January 3rd and January 4th @ 7 p.m. The voucher allows you to purchase up to 6 tickets for only $ 10 a piece. Tickets are otherwise $15, $20 and $25 each. Se Mr. Curtin or Liz in the main office for your voucher.
Mr. Graf and the Athletic Department are looking for a few dedicated students to work the home Basketball games this year. If interested please see Mr. Graf in Room H105.
Due to high demand, late-buy yearbooks are available for $120 until the end of the day today, Dec. 20th. This is the absolute last day to purchase a yearbook. See Ms. Hale in Room E210.

· Just a reminder that tonight we are having our Holiday Party for all faculty and staff @ Testo’s Ristorante and Catering.
· Please excuse the choir, the band and the orchestra from all classes today, Dec. 19th. They will be performing at the Mayor’s Concert in the morning and at St. Vincent’s Hospital in the afternoon. The list of students has been e-mailed yesterday by Mr. Degroate.

The Drill Team will have practice today, Dec. 19th @ 2:45 in the cafeteria. If you are not sure if you made the team, there is a list posted on the front of each office.
The CHS Boys Basketball team is playing against our city rival Bassick today, Dec.19th at home. Freshman are playing @ 3:30 p.m., Junior Varsity @ 5:15 p.m. and Varsity @ 7 p.m. All tickets are $5. Get there early…these games are expected to sell out! Come and support the team.

All students, it is through your hard work that will make Central High School one of the best high schools in the state!
Every student should remember that it is never too late to do better.
We are now following the new modified block schedule. You can pick up a copy of the schedule in the main office.
All Students must have a photo ID daily for security purposes and your safety. Those students who can not produce one (if asked) will receive detention! If you lost your ID, you need to pay $3 for a new one.
A continuous reminder to all students that if you are “seen” with any hats or electronic devices, you will be asked for them. Also, no card playing in school.
A reminder to all students: If you can not make your scheduled detention day, speak with you house principal for a Thursday or Friday detention.
Any student, unless you are in an after school activity or sport, you are to leave the building at dismissal.
Let’s keep our school clean! Please do not walk around with any food or drink. Additionally, some of our neighbors have been complaining about the trash outside of the building. Let’s keep our area and Bridgeport clean…Don’t litter!
Our Central Drama Club is doing a musical presentation under Ms. Lee’s direction this evening @ 7:30 p.m. If you are interested in a pasta dinner for $10, show up @ 5:00. If you want to go to just the performance, the ticket will cost you $4 at the door. There are 2 performances tomorrow. There is a 2:00 p.m. matinee and a 7:30 p.m. show. Don’t miss it. RE: Junior Class Ring Dance

This memo is to give you a Class of 2008 Ring Dance update. The Ring Dance is scheduled for Friday, May 18, 2007 at the Villa Rosa in Waterbury, Connecticut from 6:30 pm- 12 midnight. Junior Class assessments ($25) and deposits for the Ring Dance ($25) were due October 20, 2006. To date, over three hundred tickets have been reserved. The balance of forty-five dollars ($45) in cash is due in April. Unfortunately, a large percentage of the Junior Class has not paid their assessment.

After December 22, the cost of the Ring Dance ticket will increase to ($80) and the assessment will increase to ($30). There will be a limited amount of tickets available in April.

We are in the process of reserving a 53-seat capacity luxury coach bus to transport students to and from the Ring Dance. There will be two chaperones on the bus with the students. If your son/daughter would like to reserve a seat, he/she must do so no later than Wednesday, December 20, 2006. The cost to reserve a seat is twenty dollars ($20).

Just a reminder: There will be NO REFUNDS on tickets or bus reservations.

Good morning Central High School!
All students, it is through your hard work that will make Central High School one of the best high schools in the state!
Every student should remember that we are in the beginning of the new marking period and it is never too late to do better.
We are now following the new modified block schedule. You can pick up a copy of the schedule in the main office.
All Students must have a photo ID daily for security purposes and your safety. Those students who can not produce one (if asked) will receive detention! If you lost your ID, you need to pay $3 for a new one.
A continuous reminder to all students that if you are “seen” with any hats or electronic devices, you will be asked for them. Also, no card playing in school.
A reminder to all students: If you can not make your scheduled detention day, speak with you house principal for a Thursday or Friday detention.
Any student, unless you are in an after school activity or sport, you are to leave the building at dismissal.
Let’s keep our school clean! Please do not walk around with any food or drink. Additionally, some of our neighbors have been complaining about the trash outside of the building. Let’s keep our area and Bridgeport clean…Don’t litter!

Our monthly Faculty Senate meeting will be today, Dec.4th in Room F201 @ 2:40 p.m. We are making strides to improve our building and how it functions. On the agenda:
1. Role of security.
2. Progress of the balcony issue.
3. Absences/No credit with respect to grades.
4. CAPT focus.
5. Cafeteria responsibilities to clean tables.
6. Maintaining parking lot and the campus entry.
STUDENTS
If you are interested in fashion or a career in fashion, join the Fashion Club! The club meets every 2nd, 3rd and 4th Monday of the month in Room F203 from 2:45-3:45 p.m. See you there!
The FCCLA Fashion Club is looking for models to be in our fashion show at Central High School! Come and show us “what you got” today, Dec. 4th and tomorrow, Dec. 5th from 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. in Room F201. All CHS students, male or female, are welcome! Ladies bring at least 3” heels.
For anyone interested in trying out for next year’s football team, there will be a meeting this Thursday, Dec. 7th after school in the auditorium. See Coach Cadelina with any questions.
Central High Drama Club is holding auditions for the Spring Comedy on Monday, Dec. 11th and Tuesday, Dec. 12th after school in Room A109. See Mr. Stover with any questions.
Tickets for the musical “Once on this Island” are on sale. See Ms. Lee in Room B204 period 4, F205 period 5 or in the auditorium after school. Tickets are $4 in advance for everyone or $ 5 for students and $8 for adults at the door.
Members of the Interact Club are reminded to bring in a gift for the adopted family member tomorrow, Dec. 5th. Plan on staying after to wrap gifts and make cards. We will also be wrapping on Tuesday, Dec. 12th and on Monday, Dec. 18th.
The sophomore class of 2009 is sponsoring a raffle that will be held on December 20th. 1st prize is a mini Booney & Bourke shoulder bag and 2nd prize is a matching Dooney & Bourke umbrella.
