ANNOUNCEMENTS – ALL STUDENTS & STAFF
PRINCIPALS MESSAGE
· Good morning Central High School!
· All students, it is through your hard work that will make Central High School one of the best high schools in the state!
· Every student should remember that it is never too late to do better.
· We are now following the new modified block schedule. You can pick up a copy of the schedule in the main office.
· All Students must have a photo ID daily for security purposes and your safety. Those students who can not produce one (if asked) will receive detention! If you lost your ID, you need to pay $3 for a new one.
· A continuous reminder to all students that if you are “seen” with any hats or electronic devices, you will be asked for them. Also, no card playing in school.
· A reminder to all students: If you can not make your scheduled detention day, speak with you house principal for a Thursday or Friday detention.
· Any student, unless you are in an after school activity or sport, you are to leave the building at dismissal.
· Let’s keep our school clean! Please do not walk around with any food or drink. Additionally, some of our neighbors have been complaining about the trash outside of the building. Let’s keep our area and Bridgeport clean…Don’t litter!
· Have a great day.
TEACHERS
· Juniors are selling a variety of magazines subscriptions for $10. See any junior if you would like to purchase one.
· Save the date! Next Tuesday, Dec. 19th we are having our Holiday Party for all faculty and staff @ Testo’s Ristorante and Catering. A flyer was placed in all mailboxes with all the information. Checks can be made out to CHS Sunshine Club. Please make your reservation ASAP.
STUDENTS AND STAFF
· Get your voucher for “Disney on Ice” at Harbor Yard, January 3rd and January 4th @ 7 p.m. The voucher allows you to purchase up to 6 tickets for only $ 10 a piece. Tickets are otherwise $15, $20 and $25 each. Se Mr. Curtin for your voucher.
· The Girls Basketball team plays their 1st home game of the year today, against Faifield Warde. JV starts @ 3:45 p.m. and Varsity starts @ 5:15 p.m. Student tickets are $3 and adult tickets are $5. Come support the girls.
· The Boys Basketball team plays it’s 1st game of the season today at Fairfield Warde. The game starts @ 7 p.m. Make the short trip to Fairfield and support the boys.
· Mr. Graf and the Athletic Department are looking for a few dedicated students to work the home Basketball games this year. If interested please see Mr. Graf in Room H105.
· Due to high demand, late-buy yearbooks are available for $120 until Wednesday, Dec. 20th. This is the absolute last day to purchase a yearbook. See Ms. Hale in Room E210.
· Students, faculty and parents who are interested in purchasing an add in this years yearbook, can pick up an Ad Brochure in Room E210. Ad space is limited, so place your add early.
· There will be a Caribbean Club meeting tomorrow, Dec. 14th @ 2:40 p.m. in Room B209. All members and any interested students are encouraged to attend.
· The Fashion Club is having a raffle for the BIGGEST FASHION SHOW in high school history! 1st prize is a $50 Westfield Gift Card. 2nd prize is a $25 Westfield Gift Card and 3rd prize is a certificate to order a decorated cake by the lovely Ms. Griffin. Tickets are on sale now. See any member of the Fashion Club. Any FCCLA Fashion Club member who have not received your raffle tickets, see Ms. Griffin or Ms. Williams in Rooms F201, F203, F205 or F207. Also, the next meeting for the Fashion Club is Monday, Dec 18th @ 2:45 p.m. All members must attend this meeting.
· FCCLA Fashion Club member dues or due on or before Friday, Dec. 15th by 2:30 p.m. See Ms. Griffin or Ms. Williams.
· Casting call first cuts list s are posted in or around each house office. Second cuts try-outs will be on Tuesday, Dec.19th @2:45 in Room F203.
· The main office is collecting for a canned-good food drive for the less fortunate. Please contribute to this worthy cause.
· The CHS Holiday Concert will be held tonight, Dec. 13th in the auditorium @ 7:30 p.m. The concert is free and will feature the choir, the band and the orchestra.
· The deadline for giving gifts to “Toy’s for Tot’s” is this Friday, Dec. 15th. If you are interested in giving, see Liz or Therese in the main office. They are also collecting hats, gloves, socks, ect. to give to the less fortunate. They will collect these items all winter-long.
· Student’s who are going on the DECA field trip today, Dec. 13th need to bring in your permission slip, fundraiser and trip money to Ms. Yeager.
· Members of the Interact Club will be wrapping gifts for the adopted family member on Monday, Dec. 18th.
· The sophomore class of 2009 is sponsoring a raffle that will be held on December 20th. 1st prize is a mini Booney & Bourke shoulder bag and 2nd prize is a matching Dooney & Bourke umbrella. Tickets are $1 each and can be purchased from any class officer, Ms. Mezzanote in Room E103 or Ms. Harun in Room E113.
· Gear-Up for English will be held on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s in Room E214 with Ms. Furnari and in Room B117 with Mr. Iovino from 2:30–4:00 p.m. Please see your guidance counselor for an application.
· The Fairfield University’s Academic Talent Search Tutoring Program has begun. Tutoring will take place every Monday & Wednesday from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. in Room B107. Please see Ms. Morrone with any questions.
· The Future Nurses Club will meet every Tuesday after school in Room B103. Everyone is welcome!!
· All Pep-Squad members: There will be mandatory practice on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in the cafeteria at 2:45 p.m. Be prepared with sweats, sneakers and a good attitude. You must attend practice if you want to participate in the Pep-Squad!
· The Central Forum holds their meetings every Tuesday after school in Room B204. Central Forum awarded $2000.00 in scholarships and prizes last year!
· The ASPIRA Club will meet every Tuesday and Thursday after school in Room E116. Come for an opportunity to win a car and to receive help to prepare for college.
· “No Child Left Behind Vocabulary” word for the day: Vulpine – Relating to foxes; foxlike; sneaky; clever or crafty. One glance at the vulpine faces of the two bond traders was enough to convince him of their true character.
· Happy Birthday to: Ava Addenbrooke, Sophia Cherestal, Shelley Currivan, Rene Joly, Dwayne Nicholas, Dennis Williams, Sean Williams and Kortne Wright.

SOPHOMORES

JUNIORS
· Anyone who would like to participate in the junior class fundraiser, see Ms. Boehm or Ms. McNeill.
· We have a luxury coach bus reserved for the junior ring dance. It will take all juniors to and from the dance. The cost for a seat is $20. If you would like to reserve a seat, please see Ms. McNeill no later than Wednesday, Dec. 20th. There are only 53 seats available.
SENIORS
· The Fairfield County Chapter Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Scholarship Applications are available from Ms. Carpenter until Friday, Dec.22nd. Students must have a 3.0 GPA and a combined SAT score of 1350.
· Central Senior “Hoodies” are on sale for $30 in the main lobby showcase. See any senior class officer, Liz or Therese in the main office or Ms. Maltese.
· Please support the senior class of 2007 by purchasing a 50/50 raffle ticket. See Therese or Liz in the Main Office.
· Senior class dues have gone up to $25 and starting on Jan. 1st they will go up to $30. Any senior that has not paid their dues will not be able to participate in any events.
· Winter Formal tickets are now on sale for $10. The price will go up to $15 starting January 1st. The date for the formal is Friday, January 19th. Please see Liz or Therese in the main office to purchase your tickets.
PTSO
· We would like to recognize the Central High School Cheerleaders for donating baked goods to the Prospect Shelter House back on Saturday, December 2nd. Not only do they bring spirit to Central High School, they bring it to others as well. Good job girls!
GUIDANCE
· Seniors looking into scholarships should go to our website at www.bridgeportcentral.org. Click on DEPARTMENTS, then GUIDANCE, then SCOLARSHIP LISTINGS. You can apply online or pick up applications in the Career Center or the Magnet Office. The list will be constantly revised as new scholarships come in, so visit it weekly.
· Seniors may apply for the Broad Prize Scholarship. They must have a 2.75 GPA in their senior year. As well, they must have shown steady, consistent improvement from grades 9 through 12. Please see your counselor for an application. The deadline is January 19, 2007.
· SAT January 27, 2007: Please register by December 20, 2006
· ACT February 10, 2007: Please register by January 5, 2007.
