ANNOUNCEMENTS – ALL STUDENTS & STAFF
PRINCIPALS MESSAGE
· Good morning Central High School!
· All students, it is through your hard work that will make Central High School one of the best high schools in the state!
· All Students must have a photo ID daily for security purposes and your safety. Those students who can not produce one (if asked) will receive detention! Also, our Pep Rally is set for tomorrow, Nov. 21st. You will need your ID to use as your “ticket” to the Pep Rally. If you lost your ID, you need to pay $3 for a new one. All students must report to home room and will be dismissed to go to the Pep Rally from there.
· Our block schedule has been slightly modified to create equity for our students and staff. These changes will take place next Monday the 27th after our Thanksgiving break.
· A continuous reminder to all students that if you are “seen” with any hats or electronic devices, you will be asked for them. Also, no card playing in school.
· A reminder to all students: If you can not make your scheduled detention day, speak with you house principal for a Thursday or Friday detention.
· Any student, unless you are in an after school activity or sport, you are to leave the building at dismissal.
· Let’s keep our school clean! Please do not walk around with any food or drink. Additionally, some of our neighbors have been complaining about the trash outside of the building. Let’s keep our area and Bridgeport clean…Don’t litter!

TEACHERS
· Juniors are selling a variety of magazines subscriptions for $10. See any junior if you would like to purchase one.
· Rather than having our 50/50 last Friday, we have decided to have a special 50/50 on Wednesday, Nov. 22nd. Play to win these prizes: A.) ½ of the collected “pot.” B.) A turkey. C.) A pumpkin pie baked by our own Ms. Chimini.
STUDENTS
· CELEBRATE SPIRIT WEEK! Dress accordingly! Today is Favorite Celebrity Day, tomorrow is Spirit Day/Pep Rally (wear Red and Black) and Wednesday is Pajama Day.
· To all Academic Decathlon members, please meet in Room E101 today after school to pick up your study materials. Also, all Botball, NEDC and Academic Decathlon members, please meet today in Room E101 after school to pick up your cookie dough.
· Boy’s basketball tryouts will begin on Monday, Nov. 27th @ 5:00 p.m. All players must bring a permission slip and a copy of your report card. Tryouts are for 10th, 11th and 12th grade students only. Freshman tryouts will be at a later date.
· It is official…FCCLA-Fashion Club at Central! The 2006-2007 FCCLA Fashion Club Officers are: President, Paris Gaynor. 1st Vice President, Rakeem Cowon. 2nd Vice President, Kay Jean Frencois. Treasurer, Rebecca Legoute. Secretary, Britanny Francis and Assistant Secretary, Stephanie Delacruz. The advisors are Mrs. Dianne Griffin and Ms. Susan Williams. If you are interested in fashion or a career in fashion, please join. The club meets every 2nd, 3rd and 4th Monday of the month in Room F203 from 2:45-3:45 p.m. See you there!
· Urban Crew meets today after school in the lobby.
· The senior class is raffling off a turkey and a tray of lasagna this Wednesday morning. Tickets for each item will be sold separately for $1. See Ms. Maltese for your ticket.
· The sophomore class of 2009 is sponsoring a raffle that will be held on December 20th. 1st prize is a mini Booney & Bourke shoulder bag and 2nd prize is a matching Dooney & Bourke umbrella. Tickets are $1 each and can be purchased from any class officer, Ms. Mezzanote in Room E103 or Ms. Harun in Room E113.
· The meeting for the National Honor Society meeting for today has been cancelled. The board will meet in Room C112 after the Interact meeting.
· There will be a brief Softball meeting today, Nov. 20th after school in Room B206. If you can not attend, please see Coach Boehm ASAP. Please be on time.
· The Bowling Team will meet in the gym lobby tomorrow, Nov. 21st @ 2:30 p.m. We will be going to Nutmeg Lanes. Permission slips must be into Coach Katona today, Nov. 20th. If Coach Katona does not have your permission slip, you can not participate.
· All Boys Junior Varsity Soccer Players MUST return their entire uniform to Mr. Buda in Room A1 immediately!
· The last day to order a yearbook will be on December 11th. Don’t miss out on your chance to receive the first all color yearbook! See Ms. Hale in Room E210. The cost is $100. Cash Only.
· The Cape Verdean Club is meeting today, Nov. 20th @ 2:30 p.m. in Room F201. This is an important meeting; we will be electing officers.
· Today, November 20th is the last day for fencing try-outs. Practice will be in the magnet cafeteria until the painting in the gym is complete. Permission slips and medicals are due by tomorrow, Nov. 21st.
· Gear-Up for English will be held on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s in Room E214 with Ms. Furnari and in Room B117 with Mr. Iovino from 2:30–4:00 p.m. Please see your guidance counselor for an application.
· The Fairfield University’s Academic Talent Search Tutoring Program has begun. Tutoring will take place every Monday & Wednesday from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. in Room B107. Please see Ms. Morrone with any questions.
· The Future Nurses Club will meet every Tuesday after school in Room B103. Everyone is welcome!!
· All Pep-Squad members: There will be mandatory practice on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in the cafeteria at 2:45 p.m. Be prepared with sweats, sneakers and a good attitude. You must attend practice if you want to participate in the Pep-Squad!
· The Central Forum holds their meetings every Tuesday after school in Room B204. Our Open Mic Night will be held on Thursday, Nov. 30th. You must attend 2 meetings with your poetry or short stories to participate. Central Forum awarded $2000.00 in scholarships and prizes last year!
· The ASPIRA Club will meet every Tuesday and Thursday after school in Room E116. Come for an opportunity to win a car and to receive help to prepare for college.
· “No Child Left Behind Vocabulary” word for the day: Impetuous – Impulsive; spontaneous; unthinking. Impetuous actions often lead to trouble.
· Happy Birthday to: Jon’Ya Crawford, Barbara Deaguiar, Furquan Hopson, Vanessa Ortiz, Eric Ramsey, Mara Richardson, Ashalee Ruiz and Aiesha Samuels.
FRESHMAN

SOPHOMORES
· Help support the class of 2009 by buying a space on our name board for $1.00. This will be displayed at the pep assembly this month. Please see a class representative during the lunch waves to purchase your spot. All money raised will go toward the class of 2009 student activities.
JUNIORS
· Anyone who would like to participate in the junior class fundraiser, see Ms. Boehm or Ms. McNeill.
SENIORS
· Central Senior “Hoodies” are on sale for $30 in the main lobby showcase. See any senior class officer, Liz or Therese in the main office or Ms. Maltese.
· Please support the senior class of 2007 by purchasing a 50/50 raffle ticket. See Therese or Liz in the Main Office.
· Senior class dues have gone up to $25 and starting on Jan. 1st they will go up to $30. Any senior that has not paid their dues will not be able to participate in any events.
PTSO
· All cheesecake and pie money is due by noon today, Nov. 20th. There will be no more orders after this time. Tickets to pick up your orders will be distributed also until noon today. See Ms. Walker in the Career Center, Room B203.
GUIDANCE
· Seniors looking into scholarships should go to our website at www.bridgeportcentral.org. Click on DEPARTMENTS, then GUIDANCE, then SCOLARSHIP LISTINGS. You can apply online or pick up applications in the Career Center or the Magnet Office. The list will be constantly revised as new scholarships come in, so visit it weekly.
· SAT January 27, 2007: Please register by December 20, 2006
· ACT February 10, 2007: Please register by January 5, 2007.
