ANNOUNCEMENTS – ALL STUDENTS & STAFF
PRINCIPALS MESSAGE
All students, it is through your hard work that will make Central High School one of the best high schools in the state!
All students should continue to work hard to improve on your grades. It is not too late to improve and have the high grades that you expect. Just a reminder of our district mission to graduate all students’ college ready and prepared to succeed in life!
All Students must have a photo ID daily for security purposes and your safety. Those students who are not wearing one will receive detention! If you lost your ID, you need to pay $3 for a new one. This will be strictly enforced!
A continuous reminder to all students that if you are “seen” with any hats or electronic devices, you will be asked for them. Also, no card playing in school.
A reminder to all students: If you can not make your scheduled detention day, speak with you house principal for a Thursday or Friday detention.
Any student, unless you are in an after school activity or sport, you are to leave the building at dismissal. The late bus is provided only for detention and those students participating in after-school activities.
Let’s keep our school clean! Please do not walk around with any food or drink. Additionally, some of our neighbors have been complaining about the trash outside of the building. Let’s keep our area and Bridgeport clean…Don’t litter!
TEACHERS
Students must have a pass from you when leaving your room during class time. This includes any student that has been called down or sent to any of the house offices. Thank you for your cooperation.

STUDENTS AND STAFF
All TCP scholars: The meeting that was planned for last week has been rescheduled for this Thursday, January 11th @ 2:45 p.m. in Room B203. We look forward to seeing you there!
The Bridgeport Basketball Classic will take place this Thursday, January 11th at Harbor Yard Arena. Bassick against Trumbull and of course, Central against Harding. Tickets are available for $6 from Mr. Graf in Room H105 only during 4th and 5th periods. This event will sell out, so get your tickets early!
FCCLA Fashion Club: The next meeting is today, January 8th @ 2:45 p.m. in Room F203. All models that made the final cut must attend this meeting or see one of the Fashion Club advisors. The final cut list is posted in all house offices.
HOSA is sponsoring a talent show on Friday, January 26th @ 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium. Any student that is interested can find the sign-up sheet is in the main office.
Congratulations Central Fencing Team! Saturdays Boys Foil kicked off the season with victories over NFA, North Branford, Guilford and Fairfield. They are 4-0. Seniors Devin Ellis went 10-1 and Huy Ngu 8-2 for the day. Boy’s Epee is 2-0 with wins over NFA and Fairfield. Jeremy Wilson went 6-0 and Jordan Carrasquillo 4-2 for the day. Great job guys – T.N.S.!
The African American Club will meet tomorrow January 9th @ 2;30 in the “D” room location (by the gym doors). Students interested in participating in the Black History Program should attend this meeting to get an assigned part. See Ms. Fians or Mr. Adams.
All girls interested in playing softball must attend a mandatory meeting tomorrow, January 9th @ 2:30 p.m. in Room B206. This includes all returning players. Please see Ms. Boehm in B206 if you can not make it.
Students, faculty and parents who are interested in purchasing an ad in this years yearbook, can pick up an Ad Brochure in Room E210. Today is the last day to pick up a brochure.
Therese in the main office is collecting hats, gloves, socks, ect. to give to the less fortunate. She will be collecting these items all winter-long.
“No Child Left Behind Vocabulary” word for the day: Lithe – Flexible and graceful. The ballet dancer was almost as lithe as a cat. SYNONYMS: Agile; nimble.

JUNIORS
· We have a luxury coach bus reserved for the junior ring dance. It will take all juniors to and from the dance. The cost for a seat is $20. If you would like to reserve a seat, please see Ms. McNeill. The deadline to reserve your seat has been extended to Wednesday, Jan. 17th. This will be the absolute last day to reserve.
· There are limited amount of Junior Ring Dance tickets left. Tickets for the dance have gone up to $80 as of January 2nd and assessments have also increased to $30.
· The ring man will be back on Thursday and Friday, February 1st and 2nd. He will be here during the lunch waves to take orders and collect payments.
· In accordance with Connecticut General Statute Section 10-206, all eleventh grade students in the Bridgeport School System must have a health assessment. Please see the School Nurse.

SENIORS
· Senior class dues have gone up to $30 as of January 2nd. Any senior that has not paid their dues will not be able to participate in any events.
· The Winter Formal has been cancelled. Any student who already purchased a ticket can get a refund from Ms. Maltese or Liz and Therese in the main office.
· Caps and gowns go on sale for $30 starting today, January 8th. The payment deadline will be on Monday, June 11th. Please see Felicia in C House ASAP so she can place the orders by Monday, March 5th.

GUIDANCE
· Seniors looking into scholarships should go to our website at www.bridgeportcentral.org. Click on DEPARTMENTS, then GUIDANCE, then SCHOLARSHIP LISTINGS. You can apply online or pick up applications in the Career Center or the Magnet Office. The list will be constantly revised as new scholarships come in, so visit it weekly.
· Seniors may apply for the Broad Prize Scholarship. They must have a 2.75 GPA in their senior year. As well, they must have shown steady, consistent improvement from grades 9 through 12. Please see your counselor for an application. The deadline is January 19th.
· Attention juniors: DISCOVERY CARD SCHOLARSHIP is available for juniors. You must have a minimum GPA of 2.75 for grades 9 and 10, demonstrate leadership, and be active in some form of community volunteering. Deadline to apply is January 31st. To apply, go to the website at www.discovercard.com/tribute.
· SAT - March 10, 2007: Please register by February 2nd.
· ACT – April 14, 2007: Please register by March 9th.
