ANNOUNCEMENTS – ALL STUDENTS & STAFF
TEACHERS
No candy sales for any staff or students will be permitted from this time on.
Teachers please pick up more official hall passes in the office if you’ve run out and do not send any student out of class with a teacher made pass.
Midterm Progress Reports are pass/fail and are due by noon tomorrow, October 6th.
ASPIRA is looking for a Leadership Advisor. If interested please see Mr. Ortiz.
The first meeting of the Faculty Senate will be held on October 10th at 2:40 p.m. in Room F201. The Faculty Senate is the vehicle by which the faculty of the school works with the building administrator to improve school climate. If your are interested in representing your house at this monthly meeting, please speak with John Brockenberry and contact your house principal.
STUDENTS
· Any student interested in the education program at New York University should see Mr. Moran in the Magnet Office ASAP regarding a New York University Teaching Scholarship. Since New York University is highly competitive, interested students should have outstanding grades.
Central Pride Wristbands continue to be on sale for $1. See Ms. Maltese in Room C118.
Anyone interested in joining the Central Gospel Choir, you are to go down to the Teen Health Center.
The Central High School Gay-Straight alliance meetings will be held every Friday in Room C111.
Interested in a medical career? Join the Health Occupation Students of America organization. Meetings are held every Thursday in Room C212.
The 2007 “IN COLOR” Yearbook is on sale in Room E210. See Mrs. Hale, the cost is $100.
The Future Nurses Club will meet every Tuesday from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. in Room B103
The Music Club meets every Thursday in Room D115.
The Urban Crew will hold their first meeting today, October 5th @ 2:40 p.m. in the auditorium. All contracts are due and all members must attend.
There will be girls Double Dutch tryouts today, Oct. 5th & Friday, Oct. 6th at 2:40 p.m. in the girl’s gym.
All students who signed up for the fencing team, please meet in Room E-213 on Friday, Oct. 6th for a brief meeting after school.
Central students are going to class on time and working hard in class. Great job. Gentle reminder students that if you are “seen” with hats, doo rags, electronic devices, and cell phones in the building, you will be asked for them. Also no card playing is allowed.
The will be a Cape Verdean Club meeting today, October 5th immediately after school in Room F201
DECA fundraisers have arrived. Pick up your order in room C112.
CHS PEP Squad has posted the names of the members by the café, congratulations to the new members.
A reminder of our district mission, for you to become “college ready.” So, while in class, make sure that you are prepared daily and remember to be respectful to staff and other students in the building.
At dismissal, unless you are in an after school activity or sport you are to leave the building.
Reminders about the café, all students must pick up after themselves and do not walk around the building with food or drinks.
All students must carry their ID cards for security purposes daily. If you do not, you will have a consequence or pay for a new ID, the cost will be $3.
Detention schedule: C House will serve on Monday, H House on Tuesday and S House on Wednesday. If you cannot make your scheduled house day, you must see your house principal.

SOPHOMORES
· The sophomore class of 2009 will hold its 2nd class meeting on Tuesday, October 10th after school in Room E113.
· Help support the class of 2009 by buying a space on our name board for $1.00. This will be displayed at the pep assembly in November. Please see a class representative during the lunch waves to purchase your spot. All money raised will go toward the class of 2009 student activities
JUNIORS
· Junior Assessment / Ring Dance deposits are due no later than Friday, October 20th. Only 500 tickets are available so FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE. See Ms. Boehm or Ms. McNeill for more information.
· The Junior Class of 2008 is holding a class meeting on Wednesday, October 4th from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. in the Central High School cafeteria. This is your opportunity to learn about upcoming events affecting juniors. Please RSVP to Cassandra, Parent Activities Coordinator @ 330-2412 or e-mail to cedmonds@bridgeportedu.net.
SENIORS
· Please support the senior class of 2007 by purchasing a 50/50 raffle ticket. See Therese or Liz in the Main Office.
· Senior dues of $20 are due ASAP. No senior will be allowed to participate in senior activities without your dues paid.
· Senior portraits will be taken beginning October 16, see Mrs. Hale in room E210.
· The Arise Program will hold its meetings on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. in Room B120. Please sign up in the Gear-Up office in Room B110 and see Ms. Elem.
· Seniors with a GPA of 3.5 or above and are interested in taking a one credit course in International Studies at the University of Bridgeport, should see Ms. Anekwe in the History Department by Wednesday, October 11th. This course is being offered for free!!
PTSO
· The Parent, Teacher, Student Organization invites all parents and students to come and learn about all the different clubs and activities available for students to become involved within the school community.
